John Orenstein, a shareholder of Anthony Ostlund Baer Louwagie & Ross, practices primarily in the area of securities litigation and regulation. Mr. Orenstein has extensive experience both as outside and in-house counsel to financial institutions in the securities industry, including over thirteen years in legal and regulatory compliance functions at a broker-dealer. Mr. Orenstein, who began his practice in New York and continued at Dorsey & Whitney in Minneapolis, has represented companies and individuals in high-profile investigations and enforcement matters; he also has represented plaintiffs and defendants in litigation ranging from contract disputes to employment to antitrust actions. He regularly advises clients concerning their rights under indentures and similar documents governing fixed income securities.
Professional Activities
Mr. Orenstein is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association and is a past chair of the Corporate Counsel Section of the Hennepin County Bar Association. He is admitted to practice in the state and federal district courts of New York and Minnesota, as well as the federal courts for the Eastern District of Michigan and the Central District of Illinois and United States Tax Court.
